Newsletter

I have finally got around to setting up a newsletter, although I have no plans to send weekly (or even monthly) newsletters. I thought it would be useful for keeping clients and interested parties informed of changes to services, scheduling availability, and other important news. At the present time, my only means of contacting everyone is via my Facebook page and Twitter, and if you’re not around to see an update, the chances are you’ll miss it. You aren’t obliged to sign up to the newsletter, but it would be greatly appreciated. I also have a Facebook profile specifically for writing/editing/publishing so please feel free […]

R.R.Virdi: Grave Measures

R.R.Virdi: Grave Measures

What do shadows darting across the walls, cryptic writing, black fog, and a little girl who can see ghosts have in common? Paranormal investigator and soul without a body, Vincent Graves, has forty-four hours to find out. To make matters worse, his years of body-hopping and monster-hunting are catching up with him. He’s losing his mind. An old contact has shut him out. To top it all off, something’s skulking through an asylum, killing patients. Three guesses who might be next, and the first two don’t count. The writing on the wall is not so clear. But one thing is: if he doesn’t figure this […]

Colin P. Whittle: Celeste

Colin P. Whittle: Celeste

Chris Brown is unemployed and going nowhere in life. Living in a small flat in North London, he is heavily in debt and needs to find the money to repay the loan shark; or else. Answers to his problems come with the unexpected arrival of aliens from 600 light years away – first contact. Unfortunately they bring bad news for planet Earth as well as surprises, with knowledge of a vast galactic empire known as the Star Unity ruled by a brutal dictator. They also reveal the political intrigue and the warring races that make up Orion’s Arm; Earth’s own backyard in the Milky Way. […]

Final Nanowrimo (2015) count

Final Nanowrimo (2015) count

Although I completed my NaNoWriMo challenge on day fourteen with 51,056 words, I found I couldn’t just stop writing, even though I had other things to be getting on with. So I didn’t stop. I kept writing, deciding that while I was in the mood it would be a good idea to outline books two and three of my trilogy. In the end, I ‘wrote’ the grand total of 75,000 words for NaNoWriMo (2015):   My original goal was to rewrite all three books, but other commitments made this impractical so I didn’t attempt it. Rewriting the first and outlining the remaining two was my second option and I’m pleased with the results. The story came out in the […]

Nanowrimo 2015 – completed

Nanowrimo 2015 – completed

I have just this moment completed the Nanowrimo challenge (2015). I had a slow start, a couple of days of virtually no writing, but for the last few days my fingers have been flying across the keyboard (think ‘woman on a mission’). I now have what I would consider an outline; part reams of dialogue, part exposition, and far too much narration. What I do have, however, is writing I can now work with. The writing will be getting its obligatory ‘rest period,’ though I won’t leave it as long as I did when I originally wrote the story (about six years). I fully intend to publish this book at some point later next year. […]

Halfway through the Nanowrimo challenge

Halfway through the Nanowrimo challenge

I started late due to taking a short weekend break, I’ve tottered between moments of extreme motivation and zero motivation, but having now got ‘into’ my story, I have been hammering away at the keyboard and am pleased to let everyone (anyone?) who cares know that I have now passed the halfway mark:

Nanowrimo 2015 has arrived

Nanowrimo 2015 has arrived

So… Nanowrimo has arrived, and as per usual, it has taken me a couple of days to get into it. Not helped by the fact I was down London for a friend’s 40th birthday party and didn’t get home until the 2nd, but hey-ho, I’m on the case now. Having lost the majority of my writing in a cloud storage disaster, I am going to be a Nano-rebel this year. Over the past few months, I’ve been doing a little rewriting and had a word count of about 20k before the 1st November arrived (obviously I’m only counting new writing towards my Nanowrimo counts). The plan therefore, is to complete the rewrite of my first […]

February editing plans

February editing plans

I’ve been a little tied up since the start of the year with University coursework and assignments. The last module of my degree is certainly intense, we’re reading and studying a Shakespeare play every two weeks, with an assignment every four. Still, enough about that. Plans for this month include editing a short story, a novella and a novel (possibly two). I’m also learning the ropes with regards to book promotion, twitter hash-tags and search engine optimisation while trying to help some author friends out with their promotion. Another thing I need to sit down and write a business plan in preparation for launching as […]
